This Doctor was portrayed by Sylvester McCoy and was the last of the Doctors to be seen on the television series before it was canceled at the end of the 26th season. He was also the only actor in the history of the series to portray multiple Doctors. Not only did he play the seventh Doctor, but he also played the part of the sixth Doctor during the regeneration sequence of his debut episode 'Time and the Rani'. In addition, he was the only actor from the television series to appear in a movie. He ended his reign as the Doctor in the 1996 movie, passing the role to Paul McGann.
