Colin Baker became actor #6 to play the part of the Doctor. He definitely set his own style with a wardrobe that looked like it was pieced together from a tailor's fire sale. He also introduced a somewhat dark element into the Doctor's personality. During his premiere episode, he tried to choke his companion and it was later revealed that his darker side took form as the villainous Valeyard. During Baker's run, the show went into a decline as ratings dropped and the show was put on hold for a year. The BBC tried to salvage it, but decided in 1986 that things would be better off without Colin Baker at the helm.
