The Fourth Doctor

Opening title #4

1974 was a hallmark year for actor Tom Baker. This would be the start of his run as the fourth Doctor. Baker set a precedence as the longest running Doctor in the history of the series. This Doctor was noted for his child-like wonder, his 14 foot long scarf and the infamous bag of jelly babies that he carried everywhere. Although the character underwent several changes, the scarf remained a constant (although it did change from multicolored to maroon in mid-series). Baker's Doctor also parted ways with UNIT, although he remained scientific advisor (in absentia). In 1981, Tom Baker grew tired of being the Doctor and passed the torch on to Peter Davison.
