In 1969, Jon Pertwee assumed the role of the Doctor. This Doctor was very charming and more science-minded than the two previous Doctors. He had also become exiled to Earth as his punishment by the Timelords. This brought about many stories that were closer to home. It was during this time that the third Doctor had become scientific advisor to UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce). Later during his tenure, Pertwee's Doctor had been freed from exile because he saved his people from Omega. It was also during this time that the one of the most famous of the Doctor's enemies appeared. The Master, played by the late Roger Delgado, was the Moriarty to the Doctor's Holmes. In 1974, however, the time came again for the Doctor to regenerate into his most famous incarnation.
