No More Hard Times
(Mark Newton)
So many happy days with you, life is like a dream come true
Everything I did went wrong, wonder where you've been so long
You're the one for me...how you set me free...from hard times
Tried so hard to make things right, end up lonely every night
Looked around my whole life through, hoping for someone like you
You're the one for me...how you set me free...from hard times
From hard times without you, now my dreams have come true
Lonely days and heartbreak nights, no more pain, no more fights,
No more hard times, no more hard times
Don't know how I lived that way, struggled on from day to day
Tried again and still got burned, now I think my lesson's learned
You're the one for me...how you set me free...from hard times
Once I thought my life was through, then I came to live with you
Now I know my life goes on, when I'm with you I can't go wrong
You're the one for me...how you set me free...from hard times
Listen
(Mark Newton)
I never fake it just for fun
I was never any good at lying
We try so hard to make it work
One of us always ends up crying
Listen just listen
I couldn't listen to my heart
I never learned to speak the language
I thought I knew you pretty well
I guess I was a fool to prejudge
After all this time, I still can't say "I love you"
I'd gotten used to life alone
I had become so self-reliant
You had a spirit all your own
You found a way to live inside it - after...
Give me your hand, please understand
I have this scar, and it's just too hard - after...
You say you think you've had enough
You want to put it all behind you
But you'll change your mind for just three words
Okay, I'll say it if I have to
Before I'm out of time, I'll try to say "I love you"
Farewell Guardian Angel
(Mark Newton)
I've got this habit I never outgrew
A full grown adult still depending on you
'Cause you were my hero, you flew in the sky
I thought you would never die
You gave me all that your time would allow
My every endeavor you followed somehow
And sometimes I blamed you, for going away
But I understand today
Farewell guardian angel, my shelter from the wind, rain or snow
Wise to every angle, you handled every curve I could throw
With courage love and wisdom, you showed me I could learn from mistakes
Allowing me my freedom, I chose whatever path I would take
I've had good fortune, and I'll carry on
And if my luck changes, I'll try to be strong
You taught by example, the lesson was sound
And I'll never let you down
Killing Frost
(Mark Newton & Kate Holly)
The frost is settling in tonight
She knows he's itching for a fight
Smoke of breath warns her that it is time
Now that winter's coming on
She can feel it in her bones
She has known since leaves began to fall
That this the final frost will end it all
That this the final blow will take her home
She remembers when sun fell upon a promise yet unbroken
When his love was gentle and kind, that time
Couldn't figure when the seasons changed the hurt that went unspoken
He says he loves her, she almost doesn't mind, this time
But now the frost is in her soul
She hears him slamming in the door
And her face has not begun to heal
Winter's come tonight and it is real
A killing frost tonight and no more cold
He always says he loves her then
She waits for him to come again
One more killing frost and she is free
Rainfall
(Mark Newton)
Here in the dark we listen as rain falls
Hear in our hearts the rhythm of rainfall
No one knows that we're together
Safe, warm inside
Safe are we two protected by rainfall
Hidden from view surrounded by rainfall
The world may not intrude upon us
Safe, warm inside
We consider this intimate weather
In the forest, hear the rainfall
These are moments we always will savor
In the forest, hear the rainfall
On us all, rain must fall
Lovers call, hear the rainfall
Christa's Crusade
(Mark Newton & Kate Holly)
Though our fate is yet unknown, we still must travel on
It's wisdom that we seek
Each discovery we gain the knowledge that we need
The future's not so bleak
This is our prayer, to see out there, when the answer is found
The meaning of life is yet to be learned
The fire in the heart, the stones we must turn
Wait for the sun to speak up and show
There's plenty of room in us for wisdom to grow
Sails go up and out we go, explorers guide their ships
Into the great unknown
And now I wonder if it's true, as stars look down on me
If we are not alone
Across the land, into the sea, beyond the stars...we roam
We only use what we need, we see the folly in greed
Watch the earth we love bleed, we've learned
No reason to be afraid, look at the road we have made
Ride on the starship crusade, to learn
Morgan Fay
(Mark Newton)
Morgan Fay is smiling, a spark in her blue eyes
She's seeing something funny, that we don't realize
I think she's got a secret, and she might let us know
When she's a little older, and time to let her go
The world's a little brighter since Morgan Fay arrived
And we can see the future, shining in her eyes
Morgan Fay is talking, but not a word is said
She flashes pretty smiles and coyly tilts her head
Now Morgan Fay is sleeping, serenity at rest
Both her loving parents, pledge the very best
As a flame is slowly fading out
Another's lit so there can be no doubt
The future like a distant shining fire
Is within sight for Morgan to admire
Morgan Fay is smiling
I think she's got a secret
Morgan Fay is talking
Now Morgan Fay is sleeping
Liberation Day
(Mark & Nancy Newton)
Yes I call it home, but that's just where I'm from
I guess I'm not cut out to be a hometown girl
I'm sorry, but I've had enough of small town boys
I'm ready for the challenge of the outside world
I gotta go and have some fun
My parents always say that it's a long hard road
Predators are lurking all along the way
Everybody's full of lectures and advise
But no one ever listens to a word I say
Look out world 'cause here I come
I gotta go and have some fun
Look out world 'cause here I come
My liberation day has come
Thought about it plenty and it's time to go
It's obvious there's nothing to hold me here
My confidence is high, I'm headin' for the road
Accelerating all the way into high gear
My liberation day has come
I gotta go and have some fun
Look out world I'm on the run
My liberation day has come
I gotta go and have some fun
Look out world 'cause here I come
My liberation day has come
Unconditional Love
(Mark Newton)
I'd been gone so long it seemed a lifetime
Then out of nowhere I was standing on the step
"Well come on in!" he said, "you'll catch pneumonia
The home fire's burning and you're looking cold and wet."
I always knew I'd be welcome here
He would never turn me out
It's something he made crystal clear
I'd bring him down with the stunts I'd pull
But a father's love is unconditional...it's true
It's the same for you
From time to time you're bound to get in trouble
But you'll grow up and one day head out on your own
Then or now if you should ever stumble
Never hesitate to make your way on home
Always know you're welcome here
I will never turn you out
I want it to be crystal clear
Travel far, do what you will
My love for you is unconditional...it's true
I'm here for you
While We Are Apart
(Mark & Nancy Newton, & Kate Holly)
I leave you (yes you have to go)
So unwilling (no choice)
But now the time has come (yes I know) and sadly I (you) have to go
As I leave (you've got a plane to catch)
I'll try to smile (me too)
All you feel inside (I'm sure I can) bravely try not to show
Time passes ... slowly, each moment weighing on my heart
Bright colors...sunshine, seem shaded while we are apart
On these wings (I watch you fly away)
There's no freedom (granted)
Responsibilities (always seem to ) claim me (you) and I (you) fly away
Days are void of passion (while we are apart) only grey's in fashion
Daily banter bores me (while we are apart) thoughts of you restore me
Daily I get lost in my routine...at night we rendevous in fantasies
Trapped in ivory towers (while we are apart) counting down the hours
Dealing with frustrations (while we are apart) meeting obligations
In heat of solitude we slowly burn...relief will only come when I (you) return
Now I dream (vision coming clear)
I can see you (so close)
Standing all alone (too long I am) waiting to reunite
Antique Smile
(Kate Holly & Mark Newton)
She's a pretty girl with an antique smile
And if you ask she'll stop awhile
But if you ask for her to stay
She'll flash that antique smile and say
It's okay, but not this time, it doesn't have to be this way
Maybe my next spin around I'll fall in love some other day
She's old enough they ask her when
She'll settle down and choose her man
There's no lost love to hold her back
Her looks are fine her heart intact
She works a job she likes alot
She doesn't mourn what she hasn't got
She thinks it may be just this life
It's not her fate to be a wife
It's okay but not this time, maybe if I'm born again
That little girl will grow up and fall in love with some fine man
Her life is warm her heart serene
Her mother thinks she's inbetween
Waiting for a love to show
But that antique smile says I know
And that's okay but not this time I'm not in love but I am fine
She'll flash at you that antique smile and be gone before you ask her
Wait awhile
Bright Colorful Balloon
(Mark Newton)
High in the sky with the earth down below
Dancing with the clouds, white as shining snow
Spin with the wind as we float through the air
Wonder where we'll go, could be anywhere
Bright colorful balloon, you will go where the air currents lead
Don't bring us down too soon, a bright blast of flame's all you need
Hot air and you rise...over the trees down below
Friends follow our ride wherever we go
Sharing the air with some colorful friends
Scattered through the sky...gracefully ascend
Filled with the thrill of this wondrous event
'Till the day is done...time for our descent
Bright colorful balloon, won't you bring us to earth if you please
Yes, it's over all too soon, as the hot air is slowly released
We'll pack you away...all our friends gather 'round
We'll remember the day as we're homeward bound
Day's End
(Mark Newton)
Cool evening fog tumbles in, day's end is finally at hand
Now that the day in done, darkness will fall around you
Lay all your burdens aside
Sparkling stars and the moon, strange haunting call of a loon
Songs of the nightbirds, are filling the air with passion
They know the evening's for love
What will we do at days end?
Will we let passion transend?
Maybe we'll meet in dreamland, free and ready for love
And the language of passion it's wordless
But true bliss will come like a rain shower
Cooling the summer evening, soft breezes blow in the night
